Shut Induction

Shut Induction Overview

  • All contractors working on site during the maintenance shutdown are required to complete a Shut Induction, even if you are currently inducted to the Red Stag Timber site.
  • If you are not already inducted to site; you are required to provide a clear Deployment Drug & Alcohol test prior to your first day on site, from an approved PHF Science (Formerly ESR) provider. Our preferred provider is TDDA located at: 334b Te Ngae Road, Lynmore, Rotorua 3010.
  • Once you have passed the shut induction and submitted proof of a clear drug and alcohol test to the H&S Team (hradmin@redstagtimber.co.nz) you will be added to the Shut register and a swipe card will be prepared and made available for collection at the on-site Security Hut in the main admin carpark.
  • All contractors carrying out Critical Risk work (see table below), you will need to provide proof of competency but emailing copies of current training records to the H&S Team (hradmin@redstagtimber.co.nz)

Hot Work In house training provided for Hot Workers, Permit Issuers and Fire Watch
Mobile Elevated Work Platforms MEWP 23966 + 23962 boom / 23960 scissor + You will also need to provide proof of work at height certification

 As outlined in the Red Stag Timber Contractor Handbook :

  • All hot workers are required to complete Red Stag site specific Hot Work & Fire Watch Training with a member of the H&S Team (takes approx. 40mins), to book in for this please email hradmin@redstagtimber.co.nz
  • The following work/equipment use is by permit only
    • 7-9" Grinder
    • Work at height (over 2m)
    • Confined Space(s) Entry 
    • Excavations - please submit permits 10 days prior to work commencing to allow time for relevant testing and consents
